If you’re of Korean descent, ie, you have Korean parents (if you were born in Korea and adopted, that counts too), then you can get a Korean descent visa, an F4. And F4 is a residency visa and it’s not tied to your employer. YOu can also teach privates legally, something an E2 can’t do.
