Korea’s probably one of the safest countries you’ll live in. True, we technically are at war. A cease fire was signed, but not a peace treaty, but the chances of and out and out nuclear war are slim to none.
First, there’s US military placed in various cities in Korea as well as in many countries in Asia.
Second, if the NOrth did plan a nuclear attack, it would backfire. Literally, the nuclear backwash would hit them too.
Third, if they try something, they know that it’d be suicidal and in addition, the aid that they’re currently getting from many countries would be cut off.
Ok, I will admit, there are issues, but they tend to get blown out of porportion. It’s kind of like telling to fighting siblings not to cross a line. They poke their fingers over the line. Same thing happens to the Koreas. Last year, the South decided to hold military exercises PRETTY close the the border and the NOrth sent over warning shots. Yes, people did get hurt, some died, but these things happen pretty far from cities.
You can ask to be put on your embassy’s list and they will send you warning info. If something happens, you’ll be told about it. Most of the time they simply tell peopel not to panic and everything will be ok. And it is.
